As I grow older, I increasingly appreciate the finer things in life; the things that you only experience when you are fully present; things that you can’t buy, per se, but are there anyway.
This realization is one of the most valuable ones of recent. And as I grow in years and in personality, I get acquainted with new teachers in personal growth.
One of these teachers is Jamie Smart and he talks about inside out living, which means that if we can live from this space then we will have the most beautiful ride right down until the end.
It is so unbelievably simple that I cannot believe I did not come across this before. At the same time, it is a bit of a catch because it goes against everything we have been taught in Western society.
If you live inside out, then you know and feel that everything you need is inside of you. Love, wealth, happiness, joy, all that is beautiful. It is already yours.
When you live from the outside in, then you are placing conditions on your happiness like, “If I lose 7 more pounds then I’ll be happy” or “When I have this dream job then I will be truly happy!” or “As soon as he asks me to marry him, then I will be happy.”
If you live from the outside in, you are putting your life, and living, on hold.
So how do you go about living from the inside out? Well, I think I tackled it. Kind of. Sometimes I fall off the horse and usually it takes me a short time to get back on it.
I’ll share with you how I nailed it and wish you the same. I broke it down into 7 rules or steps:
- Gratitude
- A non-judgmental mindset
- An open heart
- An open mind
- A forgiving heart
- Freedom from media
- Unwavering faith that the Universe or God wants you to have everything you wish for
Gratitude
If you come from a place of gratitude and see what you have instead of focusing of what you miss, then a few things will happen. You will experience happiness instantly because you can see that you are a blessed one with the beauty in your life and you will attract more of it. Gratitude loves company!
A Non-Judgmental Mindset
What others do, think or behave is none of your business, so do not make it yours. What anyone else does, thinks or feels is their responsibility and the same goes for you. As soon as I realized this, I had so much free time to focus on me and the things that I love, want to accomplish and achieve. Very liberating!
An Open Heart
I’ve got room for anyone and everyone who needs my love. And giving love is the most wonderful thing there is. It is free and it warms lives.
An Open Mind
Keeping my mind open for the new continues to bring me so much fulfillment. I learn everyday and everyday I grow into the better version of me. It keeps me curious and in the midst of life.
A Forgiving Heart
Having a forgiving heart frees up space for love and inspiration. When you hold grudges, it costs you energy. It is taking poison and hoping the other person to die. Ok, that might be a bit harsh, but you catch the drift. Grudge-free living opens up space for abundance within you and around you.
Freedom from Media
For about three years now, I’ve not followed any news, read a newspaper or watched tv. Since then, I can honestly say I lead a happier live. The other day, I read this statement: The media is not here to inform us. It is here to shock us. And that feels like the truth, as what I remember of news was that I fell from one bafflement into the other. Do I feel like I miss something? No. I still have social media, friends and family. So if there is anything that I really need to know, like we are all moving to another planet and packing our stuff, then the news would reach me.
Unwavering Faith
I truly believe that we are born into a world that wants us to have the most beautiful experience we can have and that wants us to have anything and everything we wish for. And I also know that there is indeed suffering and hurt and I don’t know why that is. But I do know that I want to be the light to balance out the darkness and as I do so this experience, this ride, this thing called life is beautifully enjoyable and oftentimes magical.
So there you go. The seven steps to inside out living. I would love to hear your story as well. Are you living from the inside out? Share your tips with the LOM tribe in the comments below.
