Let’s get pumped up, powered up… all things are possible! Let go of the past and embrace the future. No matter what challenges or setbacks you were faced with, ask God for the grace to change and move forward.
The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are. Sometimes you teeter-totter; one foot in and one foot out the door. You may feel like you can’t move, longing to hold on to what was but having the taste of what could be. This is the season for change so say it aloud: “If change is to be, it’s up to me.” If you are tied up, be loosed. If you are bound, be set free. If you are making excuses, make better choices. If you are operating in fear, step out on faith.
First, you have to change your mindset. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. There is nothing more powerful than a transformed mind. Everything will stay the same until you change your mind. When you change your thinking, your actions will follow. Change happens when you get sick and tired of being sick and tired. It takes faith, courage and perseverance to make change happen. Let go of what’s behind you and focus on what’s in front of you. When you drive your car, the front window is big and allows you to see clearly what is ahead. The rear view mirror is small and lets you see a little of what’s behind you.
You may experience some bumps along the road, but keep pushing through. You have to be strong, tenacious and be relentless in pursuit of your goals in the New Year. Remember the movie “The Help”? The maid had the little girl, Abilene, repeat these words every day: “I’s kind, I’s smart, I’s important.” Grammatically correct or not, those are powerful words she said to herself. So release negative thoughts and silence any negative self-talk. Replace with positive thinking, positive words and positive actions. My pastor once said, “You must eat from the garden of your own thoughts so don’t grow anything you don’t want to eat.” As you achieve your goals in the New Year, check them off your “It’s Possible” list, or you could get a Honey Boo Boo stamp, that says “You’d better recognize.”
Recently I was faced with the biggest mountains in my life. Yes, I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, the tallest free standing mountain in the world (19,340 feet). The 9-day journey tested every fabric of my being. There were times when I didn’t think I could take another step, but I had to reach down into my inner bad ass and be successful in conquering the mountain. Soon after, I learned that wasn’t the biggest mountain I was to face. My divorce after 12 years of marriage would be. I was broken, fearful, angry, degraded, insecure and betrayed. I gave myself permission to have pity parties. You know the movie “Dead Man Walking”? I was a “Dead Woman Walking.” I felt like a part of me was dead. Most people referred to me as the energizer bunny rabbit. Well, life was zapped out of me and I felt helpless and stuck. There were times I could not get out of bed to work and motivate others. Many nights, I cried myself to sleep. A couple of times I lost focus and my hair caught on fire.
God picked me up, turned me around and put my feet on solid ground! I had to believe in my faith and believe in myself. I had to let go of fear and learn about forgiveness. I had to pray and I had to fight. I humbled myself before Him and grew stronger spiritually, which gave me power to take back my life. I feel like the Chevy Truck commercial “Built to last” and I believe what Joel Osteen often speaks about: “thriving, not just surviving in life.” My misery has now become my ministry. My spiritual strength and mental toughness in dealing with life experiences has allowed me to empower and elevate others. It’s important to embrace every part of your journey and remember you will win if you don’t quit.
New Season: Give birth to your dreams and let your passion or pain fuel your purpose. What’s in front of you is much more powerful than what’s behind you.
New Beginnings: Your faith is your foundation! Trust in God or your Higher Being for strength to overcome any mountain or to conquer any fear!
New You: Remember your thoughts become your actions, your actions become your habits, and your habits become a way of life. Create a lifestyle to be your best and live your best life.
New Season, New Beginnings, New You…..the best is yet to come!!!
