Know who this is? I doubt you recognize her right away, but I’m sure you are intimately familiar with the empire she has inspired.
Her name is Nike, the Greek goddess of strength, speed and victory. If you look closely you’ll see the famous swoosh symbol in the upper folds of her skirt.
I met her on my recent trip to Greece, or at least what’s left of her that is. Not having studied a lot about mythology, her existence was a total surprise to me. Isn’t it wonderful that no matter how old we get there’s always time to learn something new?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve been enamored with the thrill of discovering the unknown. But the older I get the more I’m convinced that curiosity is the key to keeping us young at heart. Exploring activates our minds, puts our bodies in motion, and connects our souls one to another.
It’s also what keeps our imaginations fired up with new ideas and fresh perspective. For example, meeting Nike was a great reminder to me that I don’t always have to start from scratch. Sometimes taking what’s old and adding a fresh spin is infinitely more effective than starting with a blank sheet of paper and trying to scratch out genius.
She also reminded me that I want to create a legacy that lasts. Generations from now I want people to continue to be inspired by my work. As you can imagine, I came back even more fired up to finish my book and build a successful business.
What’s inspiring you these days? Are you challenging yourself to learn something new? Exploring outside your comfort zone?
It only takes a spark to ignite the fires of destiny. Keep your imagination running wild by allowing yourself the pleasure of exploring the unknown. Maybe it’s booking a trip from your “bucket list”, learning a new language, or taking that cooking class you’ve been talking about. Whatever it is, get to it!
Your next big idea is just around the corner waiting to be discovered. Love you enough to go get it…
Loving on Me as I Love You. ❤
