I am so excited to be making history! No, you didn’t miss any big announcement. I’ve just come to realize that everyday we live we’re writing another page in our history book. So the question I’ve been asking myself lately is, what is the tale my life story will tell?
Several months ago, my transition coach had me to write my 75th birthday toast. It was her way of getting me to envision where I wanted to go so I could focus on what I needed to do next. It was a fascinating and enlightening experience. While I acknowledged the things I wanted to do, it was who I wanted to be that mattered most – a good mom, a wonderful wife, a compassionate soul who cared about the needs of others.
I challenge you to stop and think for a minute about what you want the world to remember about you. Is it your kind heart, or your fighting spirit? Is it your zest for life, or compassion for the poor? Whatever matters most is where we should be investing our time right now. Life is so very precious. Let every second be special, sweet and significant.
I hope my toast inspires you to write your own. It’s great motivation for the road ahead. Loving on Me as I Love You! ❤
Katrina’s 75th Birthday Toast
I’ve known Katrina for a really long time and what I love about her most is how she loves other people. It’s been her lifelong passion to help those in need and she’s allowed us to join her on that journey. Along the way she has inspired all of us to love ourselves too – a daunting feat for many of us, but one thing you can say about my friend is that she never gives up on you.
I could tell you all about her books, illustrious speaking career, numerous businesses and countless accolades – but I suspect, no I KNOW, what she is most proud of is her family. She absolutely loves being a mom, grandma, and a wife. They are – as she calls them – her greatest gift in life. The beautiful thing is they all say the same thing about her. Perhaps that is because as long as I’ve known them God has been the central character in their story.
Despite her drive to save the world, she never lost her adventurous spirit. Just last week she sent out a picture of herself zip lining in South America – an early birthday gift for making it three quarters of a century. For years we’ve all thought she was crazy for her little escapades, but congratulations friend – you’ve finally reached an age where we can just call you eccentric!
Katrina, you have made us laugh, made us cry, made us think and just being around you helped make us better people. Happy Birthday my friend! May God give you long days, short cries, big laughs and still yet bigger dreams.
As you always tell us, the best is yet to come! We can hardly wait to see what you come up with next!
