It’s Time to Get in the Driver’s Seat of our Lives! Are you ready to embrace a spirit of can do?
It’s a New Year and I have no interest in challenging anyone to be a New You. Nope, not me. As a woman who is all about purpose and empowerment, I know that’s what you might expect. But here’s the thing – I am clean out of cares about all the crap we put ourselves through every January.
The resolutions, the gym memberships, the zany diets…You know, all that stuff that lasts for about three months before we forget it or lay it to the side. Nope, not doing it. Instead I’m embracing a spirit of CAN DO – focusing on what I can do today, everyday. I hope you do too.
Let me tell you why I’m so keen on this plan.
For many 2017 was one of the more exhausting and exhilarating years of our journey. Whether it was personally the best year, the worst, or somewhere in between, the proliferation of catastrophic, life-changing events in some way took a toll on our psyche – zapping us physically, emotionally and financially.
On the downside were the hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, fires and earthquakes that seemed to be happening every single day. These were compounded with political disarray, a proliferation of reports of sexual harassment, and more mass shootings. It was enough to make us lose our minds. We were sad. We were frustrated. But mostly….a lot of us were just stuck, wondering if there was anything we can do to make things better.
There is something we can do to make a difference, and it begins by focusing on less, not more. Click To TweetKnow what finally got us unstuck? We got tired. Tired of waiting on someone to rescue us. Tired of feeling powerless. Tired of being sick and tired. We put our big girl panties on and we became the solution. We proved that when we focus there is a heap of stuff we can do! Here’s how we took action –
- We marched, many for the first time, making a statement that couldn’t be ignored.
- We ran for office across the country and we WON.
- When the hurricanes and fires came, we worked together to help our neighbors
- We spoke up and said #MeToo and #NoMoore. Now we’ve said #TimesUp
Yes sisters in 2017 we got busy and began slaying our dragons. In the magical way that women do so well, we looked at all that mess, and we started a movement. I am so proud of us!
And yet – I’m concerned for us too. Our lives were already FULL to bursting.
We’re still over committed, stressed out, and constantly feeling overwhelmed and behind – and that’s with no natural disasters, but the chaos of our own lives. The year has just started, and some of us already feel like we can’t keep up.
Aren’t we ready for a change? Because it doesn’t have to be this way. We can be balanced and successful. We can live according to our priorities. We can be aware and not overwhelmed, if we apply some can do to our own lives.
Exhaustion is not a life requirement. You can have balance, and still be productive. Click To TweetLadies, it’s time for a new approach –> Get in the Driver’s Step of Our Lives…and Stay There.
It may seem a bit odd but we’ve already proven it works! Just look at how much we accomplished when we a) focused on our priorities, and b) acted according to them. Can you imagine how we could revolutionize our own life by applying the same empowering principle to our everyday?
- We could stop searching for work/life balance, and instead live as a balanced person.
- We could stop over committing, by clearly identifying our hell yes! (The rest is a no.)
- We could stop feeling guilty over neglecting those relationships that matter most to us.
- We could stop going to jobs we hate, or those that we love but are killing us. ( Yes! It is possible.)
- We could schedule and protect our time for things that matter most to us – our health, our families, and personal growth.
Listen – let’s forget the resolutions and focus on empowered living. By making 2018 the year of CAN DO we make one commitment – establish our personal priorities, and through our actions put them first – every single day.
I know…you think what I’m saying is not possible. You’ve tried to establish boundaries before, but you always slide back. You can’t ever seem to prioritize your own priorities. I get it. I used to be that way too. Until I discovered that it was my approach – not my priorities or environment – that was the problem.
There is a quote by Alice Walker that I love. The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any. Click To Tweet
This is the crux of our problem. When it comes to our own lives, we’ve grown accustomed to sitting in the passenger seat. We don’t create opportunities for change. Instead we wait for “the right time.” We don’t even put ourselves out there. Our dream is to be “discovered.” It’s as if we’e decided that someone else is in charge, and we have no choices.
But we do not have to live this way. Our actions last year prove that we are powerful beyond measure, often achieving what others thought impossible. You can get control of your life, live according to your priorities, and create the balance you seek. The good news is you don’t have to do it alone.
In our year of CAN DO my commitment is to help you lead in every aspect of your life. Throughout the year Loving on Me Academy will offer tools you can use to unleash the power within you, creating the life you want to live. Our first course is absolutely FREE – 5 Steps to Get in the Driver’s Seat of Your Life. It’s a step by step plan to establish and act upon your priorities – in a way that is actionable and sustainable.
Listen there’s no magic bullet. No one is coming to rescue us from our unbalanced lives. But the wonderful truth is we can stop the insanity ourselves. Make 2018 your year of can do! Own your power. Live according to your priorities. Find your peace.
I’ll shine the light. You do the work. Together we’ll achieve your unimaginable success.
Hugs and Love!
