Towards the end of March, a picture was posted in the Loving Inspiration section of Loving On Me that really got my attention. It said “Happy Spring! What’s blooming in you?” Seems rather simple, but it really got me to thinking.
The first thing that came to my mind was “April showers bring May flowers.” We were on the verge of a new month and right in the midst of spring. Spring is the season when nature begins to flourish and comes back to life in style. The weather gets nicer, the grass becomes greener, and flowers begin to bloom in more shades and hues of colors than we could ever imagine. All of this beautiful blooming is possible only because of the rain that came before it. Which brought me to my next thought, what’s blooming in me?
Much like nature does for plants and flowers, what we nurture in our lives and inside of ourselves grows. What have I been watering in my life? What is going to bloom from what I am tending to today?
As humans, our watering consists of anything we devote our thoughts, time, actions, or energy towards. So the question is: what are we watering? Are we taking care of things that are important and special to us? Or are we giving extra attention to parts and pieces of our lives that need to be pruned or cut off?
I know I am watering a few things that I cannot wait to see bloom: dreams, love, plans for the future, faith, and self-love. But I also noticed that I was giving unnecessary attention to things in my life that didn’t need to grow: insecurity, doubt, perfectionism, and even pride. Now I can see where I need to make some adjustments.
The good news is, it’s a brand new day and a new month is upon us! So my challenge for you is to evaluate what you are tending to in your garden of life. What needs more water? What needs to be pruned? What seeds are you currently planting in your life and sowing into others?
Happy Tuesday and cheers to growing our gardens of life! Don’t fret if there are some weeds scattered around or if someone else’s grass looks a little greener. Remember, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it. Get to showering your life with love!
