She is the mother of three grown children and the grandmother of one. Her calling and passion is serving children and women\u2019s groups (specializing in breast cancer). Becoming an orphan at age eleven, Rev. Tammie\u2019s philosophy is: \u201cIf we don\u2019t invest in our youth and show them we care, and that being a Christian is really a good thing, then we don\u2019t have a right to complain when they choose the bling, drugs, sex, and violence of the world.\u201d She is an ordained Itinerate Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC), and serves as Youth Pastor and Associate Minister at St. Andrews AMEC in Sacramento, CA. \r\n\r\nRev. Tammie is a nine-year breast cancer survivor. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2004, she founded Carrie\u2019s TOUCH, Inc., (Teaching, Outreach, Understanding, Caring, Healing), an African American breast cancer, registered 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization which provides advocacy, awareness, education, research and support. Rev. Tammie has received numerous awards nationally and internally for her work in the cancer community. She is co-author to published research paper, \u201cThe Unmet Needs of African American Women with Breast Cancer\u201d. \r\n\r\nRev. Tammie is the visionary and artistic director for the Carrie\u2019s TOUCH Breast Cancer Exposed\u2122 project - a cutting edge calendar takes an artistic approach to raising awareness and educating the community about breast health and breast cancer treatment options.
