{"id":5888,"date":"2015-03-23T09:30:04","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T14:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lovingonme.com\/?p=5888"},"modified":"2017-03-30T22:40:03","modified_gmt":"2017-03-31T03:40:03","slug":"women-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lovingonme.com\/2017\/2015\/03\/23\/women-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Women, Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lovingonme.com\/2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/iStock-woman-fearless-1000.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-5892 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/lovingonme.com\/2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/iStock-woman-fearless-1000-300x182.jpg\" alt=\"woman-fearless\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a>Recently I came across a Zig Ziglar quote that sums up, in my opinion, our greatest threat \u2013 FEAR.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFear has two meanings: \u2018Fear Everything And Run\u2019 or \u2018Face Everything And Rise.\u2019 <\/em><em>The choice is yours.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In honor of Women\u2019s History Month, rise.<\/p>\n<p>Fear comes in all shapes and sizes. Tangible. Invisible. Smothering. Stifling. Paralyzing. It blocks our moves, tackles our thoughts. From mundane to monstrous, fear drives us to lock our secrets, real feelings, authenticity in a box of silence. Fear of letting go, speaking up, showing vulnerability, no longer accepting the unacceptable, saying no, making a career change, making change of any kind&#8230;fear holds us hostage.<\/p>\n<p>The list goes on and on. I speak from experience. My fears came true:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0having difficult conversations with bosses, colleagues, family and friends<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0divorce and becoming a single mom<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0leaving a job, raising the white flag, accepting the time had come<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0worrying about where my next paycheck would come from<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0trusting again, loving again<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0setting boundaries, saying no<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0exposing my soul through writing, speaking, storytelling<\/p>\n<p>I now know that enduring these trials was necessary to change the course of my life, to free myself from fear, to heal the drought in my soul\u2026to thrive. For nearly 40 years of my life, I chose to run. Today, I choose to rise.<\/p>\n<p>Many women made history when they chose to rise:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Joan of Arc<\/em> \u2013 believed God called on her to lead France to victory in a long war with England.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u00a0Susan B. Anthony<\/em> \u2013 fought for women\u2019s right to vote<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Harriet Tubman<\/em> \u2013 led 300 people to freedom from slavery through The Underground Railroad<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Rosa Parks<\/em> \u2013 refused to leave her seat on the bus<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Amelia Earhart<\/em> \u2013 took her first record-breaking flight<\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine if these bold women had chosen to \u2018fear everything and run?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Today, honor yourself and those who came before you. Reach out for support and have someone hold you accountable to make necessary changes. Take one little step each day. Each step makes you stronger, more courageous. You\u2019ll be amazed at what you learn about yourself and the doors that mindset will open. Each step will lighten your load. And when you see you\u2019re living proof, pay it forward. Inspire someone else to rise, not run.
