Greater<\/b>, by Steven Furtick, is about igniting God\u2019s vision for your life. Written in an easy conversational style, the author takes you on a journey through the life of Elisha, a prophet in the Old Testament.<\/p>\n

Elisha wholly embraced God\u2019s vision for his life. My favorite part of his story is when Elijah comes to tell him that he is his successor. Elisha is at work plowing the field when Elijah walks up, throws his cloak around him and keeps stepping. Elisha immediately stops what he\u2019s doing and follows Elijah. But then, he blows me away! To make sure he doesn\u2019t go back to his old life, Elisha comes back and burns his plow<\/b>. He doesn\u2019t keep a safety net and he doesn\u2019t second-guess his decision. He says \u2013 I am not going back! I want the greater life God has for me.<\/b><\/p>\n

Wow!!! I love that visual. How many of us have started on a new path only to get nervous or frustrated, then turn around and go back to our old lives? In our moments of weakness the life we know seems so much safer, but the truth is it\u2019s not safe \u2013 just limiting. The comfortable familiar is what keeps us locked in an endless cycle of mediocrity. <\/b>The only way we can move to the next level is by burning our plow.<\/p>\n

The quote on the back of the book sums it up well. Most of us aren\u2019t in danger of ruining our lives.
