\"janet-blog-aruba\"<\/a>I spent a wonderful, tropical vacation with a close friend this spring and we had a blast! It was wonderful “me time” celebrating her birthday and catching up with each other\u2019s lives. It made me think about women and how we impact each other\u2019s lives. Whether negative or positive, we are a bond that seals emotional life force.<\/p>\n

As we lay on the beach talking about life, our goals, and of course, men, we asked ourselves, am I a \u201cRide or Die Chick\u201d? The definition\u00a0of a\u00a0“Ride or Die Chick” is\u00a0a woman\u00a0who isn’t afraid to be down with her man. She’ll do anything her man needs her to do such as, \u201cwe was fighting in the store and my girl was a ride or die chick,\u201d which only yields rewards to the man.<\/p>\n

I realized emphatically I am\u00a0NOT a \u201cRide or Die Chick\u201d. I am a “Want It All” kind of a woman \u2013 love, passion, butterflies in my stomach, great sex, respect, and an adoration of me that comes from a man that only God can give him. I am not a woman from a rap song.\u00a0I am a beautiful creation from God for His purpose.<\/p>\n

For all of my sisters, especially those 50 and older, know that you are “the bomb.\u201d\u00a0You command your destiny and live the life you have chosen.\u00a0Choose to be. Choose to feel and be sexy, and if you do not feel sexy because you have let yourself go, get in shape and\u00a0love the woman\u00a0who stands on the other side of the mirror you look in every morning.\u00a0There is only one of you and even though you see flaws, stretch marks, wrinkles or\u00a0sags here and there, you are a sensual woman that can mess up any real man\u2019s mind.\u00a0I know I am in my 60\u2019s and I am still doing it.<\/p>\n

I know we live in a time where if you are more than 30 years old, then it is over, but you need not compete with youth. Age is just a number so work what you do have. Embrace your age, flaws and gifts. Love what you do in your profession. If you do not, find your passion and grow in it. There is nothing more beautiful than a seasoned woman who has her act together, and struts every step with an\u00a0“I know I look good” confidence.\u00a0Be comfortable in\u00a0your own skin.<\/p>\n

My bottom line: Women, wake up!\u00a0You do not need to live for anyone.\u00a0Live for yourself.\u00a0I am alarmed by conversations I hear between women when they are discussing men.\u00a0It frightens me when I hear young and older women discussing the men in their lives. \u201cI know my man is seeing someone else, but I am there for him. Maybe it is something I am doing wrong,” or \u201cI know he talks to me like I am dirt, but I know he loves me.\u201d Really!?\u00a0One of the most frightening conversations I overheard between four young women discussing sex was how their man did not like to use protection, so they go along with unprotected sex because they love him and want to please. Definitely \u201cRide or Die Chicks.\u201d\u00a0We need to learn that we are vibrant creatures, weak in some areas and strong in others.\u00a0Love is not a weakness or a flaw. It is strength and should be\u00a0reciprocated.<\/p>\n

We bare children and many of us raise them without husbands.\u00a0We mentor others while striving to be whole. We sacrifice to help a friend and give of ourselves\u00a0when we are in need.\u00a0Do not compromise yourself or integrity for anyone. We are the wonders of the world. Own it and live it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
