And when I run, I feel His pleasure.\u201d &#8211; Eric Liddell in <i>Chariots of Fire<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I certainly don\u2019t feel any pleasure when I run, from God or anyone else. But since last Sunday when our pastor used this quote in his sermon, I have not been able to stop thinking about what pleasure God takes in what I do or what I am.\u00a0It has touched my heart numerous times over the past week and begs the question \u201cWhat did God make me?\u201d In honor of Women\u2019s History Month, the best example I have in my life of a woman that is completely in tune with\u00a0her purpose is my mother.<\/p>\n<p>Linda Leyendecker Norton, my mother, is one of the most purposeful, Christ-like people I have ever known.\u00a0You know those bracelets from years ago that were labeled \u201cWWJD (What Would Jesus Do?)&#8221;? I have always looked to her as the example of how to live in this world and live according to the answer to that question.\u00a0My mom:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>seizes\u00a0every day<\/li>\n<li>doesn\u2019t waste time<\/li>\n<li>gives and cares deeply<\/li>\n<li>is self-aware<\/li>\n<li>is Godly<\/li>\n<li>full of zest<\/li>\n<li>funny<\/li>\n<li>beautiful without knowing it<\/li>\n<li>young at heart<\/li>\n<li>positive<\/li>\n<li>hopeful<\/li>\n<li>trusting<\/li>\n<li>modern<\/li>\n<li>energetic<\/li>\n<li>has an infectious laugh<\/li>\n<li>builds lasting friendships<\/li>\n<li>is focused on the right things<\/li>\n<li>fit and healthy<\/li>\n<li>proud of all of her children<\/li>\n<li>not afraid<\/li>\n<li>strong and confident<\/li>\n<li>sees the best in people<\/li>\n<li>is a connector<\/li>\n<li>sets an example without telling others she is setting an example<\/li>\n<li>says \u2018yes\u2019 when she is needed<\/li>\n<li>doesn\u2019t want an award<\/li>\n<li>and generally makes people around her feel good<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>God made my mother to be giving and selfless. And I believe He takes pleasure in seeing her help others. My mother is such a wonderful example, but I\u2019m not the same as her.\u00a0Oh, how I wish I was half the woman, mother, friend, student, employee, she is. But I can live a life of purpose based on what I am made to be. What do we do that God takes pleasure in? Is there anything at all today? And if not, what should it be?
