\"impossible<\/a>A girlfriend of mine called last week to tell me her book was on the best-seller list. What an amazing accomplishment! I was so elated for her, and absolutely thrilled to see her do what others told her could not be done.<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t it sad when people try to pre-write our story? Viewing the world through their narrow lens of experience, they assume we can go no farther than where their minds will let their eyes see. Or that if we don\u2019t take their same path we\u2019ll never experience success.<\/p>\n

Early in my career I had a boss just like that. For 5 months, I worked for one of the meanest men I\u2019d ever met.\u00a0 Every day the office was a battlefield \u2013 with him arguing with his wife, screaming at the staff, or trying to cause division amongst the team.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, I started looking for another job right away. Everyone was helping me search \u2013 including a friend of mine who worked for one of our clients. Unbeknownst to me, he had mailed me a list of job openings, which was opened by my boss. You can imagine what happened.<\/p>\n

I can still hear the screaming from the day he fired me. How I didn\u2019t want to pay my dues, I didn\u2019t know enough to make it in the business, I was never going to stick with anything, and never going to be a success.<\/p>\n

As I sat there listening to him scream two thoughts ran through my mind \u2013 he really is crazy and I do not believe a word he\u2019s saying. Blessedly, everything in my spirit rejected the words coming out of his month. And looking back over the past 20 years of my career, I\u2019d say I was right to do so.<\/p>\n

We have to be careful not to allow folks to paint a picture of our life that has nothing to do with our purpose or plan.<\/b> So often they come to us speaking with such authority, as if they have gotten a revelation straight from heaven. But I\u2019ve learned that if the words they\u2019re speaking don\u2019t resonate with my spirit then it is not a message that was sent for me \u2013 no matter who they are.<\/p>\n

We are the CEO of our own lives<\/b>. If people are telling us what we can\u2019t do, won\u2019t happen, or can\u2019t have because we don\u2019t measure up here\u2019s what I recommend \u2013 do not receive it. Do not let it take root in our thinking. For doubts are like weeds, quickly smothering out hope and inspiration with discouragement and disillusion.<\/b><\/p>\n

Instead focus on the voice speaking inside of you. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting people who believe in the impossible and improbable.<\/b> Ask God for wisdom, and then bounce any feedback you get off of what He has already deposited in your spirit.<\/p>\n

Listen, I don\u2019t know about you but I still believe in miracles.<\/b> How can I not when I know God can do anything? So just in case you\u2019re feeling beat down and tired from all the naysayers, let me drop a positive word in your spirit \u2013 You Can Do It!<\/b><\/p>\n

The road may get long, and will assuredly have some rocky places. But you have everything you need to reach that place that\u2019s calling to you, singing your special song. Just keep walking, and every now and then if you need a hand to hold reach out and we\u2019ll be there \u2013 to encourage, uplift and always, always believe in you!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a poem to keep you inspired along the journey. It\u2019s from Edgar Albert Guest, a prolific poet who was quite popular in the early 20th<\/sup> century. Written nearly 100 years ago, his words still ring true today. I hope it blesses you as much as it does me.<\/p>\n

Who wouldn\u2019t say so till he\u2019d tried.<\/p>\n

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin<\/p>\n

On his face. If he worried he hid it.<\/p>\n

He started to sing as he tackled the thing<\/p>\n

That couldn\u2019t be done, and he did it!<\/p>\n

Somebody scoffed; \u201cOh, you\u2019ll never do that;<\/p>\n

At least no one ever has done it;\u201d<\/p>\n

But he took off his coat and he took off his hat<\/p>\n

And the first thing we knew he\u2019d begun it.<\/p>\n

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,<\/p>\n

Without any doubting or quiddit,<\/p>\n

He started to sing as he tackled the thing<\/p>\n

That couldn\u2019t be done, and he did it.<\/p>\n

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done<\/p>\n

There are thousands to prophesy failure,<\/p>\n

There are thousands to point out to you one by one,<\/p>\n

The dangers that wait to assail you.<\/p>\n

But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,<\/p>\n

Just take off your coat and go to it;<\/p>\n

Just start to sing as you tackle the thing<\/p>\n
