Oowee! Is it November already?!
Wow! This year has flown by. Normally around this time of year I like to review goals that I set in the previous year, and check my progress. I still will, but this year, instead of focusing on how I measure up – to where I wanted to be or thought I’d be – I just want to be still, if only for a moment, to be grateful for where I am. I challenge you to do the same. Let’s be still and celebrate us!
In this stillness, think about all of the little triumphs and aha moments. Appreciate those times when you noticed growth in yourself, your thoughts, reactions, and in your relationships. What did you think of? What did you feel?
For me, thinking of this past year helped me realize how much growth has happened. Most of this progress however, has been internal. When we are growing and changing so much on the inside it can be frustrating to not be able to see tangible, physical results. However, we have to remember that this growth is the most important kind!
Here are a few of my little triumphs from this year:
Being Present
Starting school again has been an absolute whirlwind adventure. I am grateful for it though, because it’s forced me to be more present in my daily life. Sometimes we can become too focused on what’s to come in the future, or on what happened in the past, that we can’t really live in the present. When in actuality, the present is all we have. So live, love, and enjoy every day! Life is all about the journey anyway, right?
Saying Yes to Myself
I was having doubts about an internship I applied for, and a loved one quickly reminded me, “If you don’t say yes to yourself, who will?” So here I am to share that with you! You have to say yes to yourself, your hopes, your dreams, every single day. Everything will fall in line as soon as you start saying yes to you.
A line from The Alchemist, one of my all-time favorite books, mentions this “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Owning My Power
It can be easy to get stressed out about bills, disagreements with friends or family, or about problems on the job. That’s just a part of life and it is completely understandable. But do you allow these to overtake your thoughts?
Have you ever been physically somewhere but mentally somewhere else because your mind is consumed by something negative? As soon as these problems start to seep into other areas of your life they take your power. Something I’ve been doing to take back this power is keeping a gratitude list in my journal. When I stop for a second to focus on how blessed I am then everything else seems so small. Practicing gratitude and being able to look at the big picture help me regain my power. Then I’m better equipped to handle whatever is going on.
What are some of your triumphs and aha moments from this year? I want to celebrate with you! Happy Holidays ❤
