With the summer here and all the beautiful new clothing designs debuting, it makes you want to revamp your total look. A new look can be a welcome change in so many ways. It has been known to take away ten years off some and boost the self-esteem of others. While many decide to start with the outer image, buying new clothes, shoes, and even new perfume, let me suggest to you that the inner image should take first priority in your new total makeover.
Have you ever walked past a woman, or even had lunch with a friend and immediately noticed that she had a glow about her that had nothing to do with her outfit? I have learned that the most important things to bring happiness into your life have nothing to do with money or material things. It has everything to do with knowing yourself and your purpose and walking in it. Who are you really? What were you divinely put here to do and be? How will you get there? Transformation looks so much better when it comes from within. Just like we get up each morning and cleanse our faces, brush our teeth, and make sure our look is perfect for the day, we need to have a daily routine for our inner body as well.
5 Steps to Total Transformation
Daily meditation has such a wonderful affect and creates clear thinking. The way you think determines the quality of your decisions, choices, actions and results, which equals your quality of life. Schedule a special time for meditation each day. The benefits are cleansing, freeing, and energizing from the inside out.
Let’s talk about another rewarding gift that helps you connect with the new and improved you. One big word comes to mind: courage. Force yourself to do what you know you should do. Most people are fearful of making mistakes. You must have the courage to face your fears. Instead of avoiding the thing you fear- just do it! Fear is connecting to the idea of “I can’t” or “I won’t do it”. Reverse it and say, “I can do it”!
Our self talk, in many cases, can determine how good or bad our day will be, how well we will perform a task, and even how well we interact with others. But most importantly, our self talk tells us how we really feel about ourselves. When we stop speaking negative of ourselves, we give ourselves permission to like ourselves and enjoy the fullness of life. I have chosen to eliminate and bury words that mean me no good. Yes, a good ole funeral is necessary for some of the words that we use towards ourselves! So I say to you, compliment yourself with words that build you up and not tear you down.
Our self-esteem can easily be boosted by just adding a little new knowledge. I’m sure you have heard, “Reading is fundamental.” Well, it is in so many ways. I’ve learned that the more knowledge you obtain, the better you feel about yourself. Can you imagine reading 50 books a year? I know you may have a busy schedule, but if you just spend 60 minutes of reading each day you will, on average, read about one book a week and 52 books in a year. I have taken this challenge and I must say it has been great for my self-esteem. Read books that enlighten and empower you and watch your heart start to smile.
Have you ever thought about what age you would like to live to? What kind of life will you have to live physically to reach your goal? Design a health plan now to get there. Envision your ideal perfect body? Make a list of what it would look like. Post an old picture of your perfect body or cut out a picture from a magazine and put your head on it. Put it in a place where you will see it all the time. You must first envision yourself in beautiful shape in order to achieve it. The key to physical health is summed up in 5 words: EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE. Exercise daily. Early in the morning is best. It helps you to be more creative, happy, positive and eager.
Now that you have made a choice to work on the inside, it’s time to take a look at your outer image. Is your image saying what you want it to say? Does your attire represent the woman on the inside? Do something daily to give yourself that outer boost of confidence. Not sure what to do? Go to a department store and ask if they have a stylist that they can recommend to create a nice new look for you or clip out some of your favorite styles from a magazine or online and recreate the look for yourself. Remember, the new you deserves all the love that you can give, from the inside out!
